10 Most Expensive Liquors in the World
This comprehensive list of the 10 Most Expensive Liquors in the World is a comprehensive list of fine liquors that have fetched multi-million dollar price tags. The list includes Whiskeys, Vodkas, and Tequilas. It includes diamond studded bottles, gold encrusted decanters, and rare spirits aged for more than half a decade. Here are the 10 Most Expensive Liquors in the World.
10. Russ-Baltique (Old) Vodka
Price: $740,000
Whether you love the cars or you love the vodka, you’ll have to admit there’s something special about both. And the combination can be tantalizing. The renowned Russian maker of luxury cars from the 1900s turned its attention to vodka later in its history, and achieved success there as well. Only 10 bottles of this vodka were released, and each buyer received a complementary Dartz Prombron Iron Diamond SUV. The flasks that encased the bottles were solid-gold replicas of the car’s radiator glass and weighed 20 pounds each. Caps are made of yellow and white gold, topped by a diamond-studded Russian imperial eagle. This bottle is a car lover's dream.
9. Diva Premium Vodka
Price: $1 Million (Estimated)
While most of the liquors on this list hold their value because of the extravagant bottles in which they rest, Diva Premium vodka is said to be extraordinary, triple-filtered, and known for its premium taste. There are also precious crystals encased in the bottle that can be used as gifts to special people for special occasions, or the bottle may simply be displayed as an art piece when it is empty. The actual liquid inside this still valuable bottle may be worth more than the rest of the most expensive bottles of Vodka.
8. Russo-Baltique (New) Vodka
Price: $1.3 Million
Made to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the automaker, it is of bulletproof glass, with a flask made from the radiator guard of a vintage Russo-Baltique automobile. The first bottle was presented to Prince Albert of Monaco. One of the bottles was stolen from a vodka museum in Copenhagen.
Captured on film by the security system, the empty bottle was later recovered from a construction site and returned to the museum. Later it was refilled with vodka, and it retains its worth. Owning a $1.3 Million bottle of vodka is already quite the conversation piece. The story of the heist might actually make it worth the price tag.
7. The Macallan Michael Dillon 60 Year Old 1926
Price: $1.53 Million
The Macallan Michael Dillon 60 Year Old 1926 came from the same 40 bottles that were produced in 1986 and gave birth to The Macallan Fine & Rare 60 Year. There were two bottles from this batch of 40 that were produced with no label and this beautiful bottle was hand painted by famous Irish painter Michael Dillon. Historians believe the other unlabeled bottle is unaccounted for.
Dillon is famous for painting landscape murals and is beloved by those in the UK.
6. The Macallan Fine & Rare 60 Year Old 1926
Price: $2 Million
This rare scotch whiskey was aged in Oak barrels for a mind-blowing 60 years. Macallan produced 40 bottles in 1986 and of those 40, it is estimated that 14 of those bottles received the “fine and rare” designation. Whiskey experts consider this the most expensive bottle of whiskey ever sold, even though Isabella's Islay tops the list of Most Expensive Whiskeys in the World because of its diamond & gold encrusted decanter.
The record breaking whiskey sold for just under $2 Million in an October 2019 auction at Sotheby's.
5. Tequila Ley .925 Diamante
Price: $3.5 Million
Tequila Ley .925 is the Most Expensive Bottle of Tequila in the World. The Tequila inside the bottle is rested in barrels for seven years. This Premium Extra Añejo is bottled in a flask made from 4.4 pounds (2 kg) of platinum and 4.100 perfect white diamonds. The overall design of the bottle is a dragon theme. Glass “dragon scales” cover the bottle, and a “dragon tooth” hangs from its neck.
The tequila inside Tequila Ley .925 Diamanté is neither Añejo nor Extra-Añejo. It is aged 18 months in oak barrels and reportedly has both butterscotch and vanilla flavors. This tequila is the Tequila Ley .925 that sells over the counter for $3,499,947.01 less ($52.99 a bottle) in liquor stores everywhere.
4. 2012 Leon Verres Billionaire Vodka
Price: $3.75 Million
The 2012 and original edition of Billionaire Vodka is less than half the price of the 2015 Edition and is housed in a more “normal” bottle. The vodka is triple-filtered and contained in this diamond-studded white faux-fur bottle. The filtering process includes being filtered once through ice, then a second time through Nordic charcoal, and finally through crushed diamonds and other gemstones. Quite the process. The first of this producer’s legendary expensive bottles, it is another authentic vodka that may never be tasted. The 2012 Billionaire Vodka also owns the number 3 spot on our list of Most Expensive Vodkas.
3. The Eye of the Dragon Vodka
Price: $5.5 Million
Royal Dragon Vodka, a Dutch company based in Hong Kong, created a beautiful bottle topped by a stylized dragon studded with 50 karats worth of yellow diamonds in addition to approximately 15,000 clear cut diamonds and solid 18-karat gold. The artistic creation was a joint effort between Scarselli Diamonds of New York and the vodka company. It reportedly took eight months to produce, and the vodka it contains is also said to be of legendary quality, produced from winter rye charcoal-distilled five times.
2. Isabella’s Islay
Price: $6.2 Million
Isabella's Islay comes in a decanter of white gold encrusted with diamonds and rubies that give the bottle it's $7.25 Million price tag, but the Whiskey is special too. A scotch whiskey from the noted Isle of Islay in Scotland, this is legendary liquid gold. It’s meant to be savored, but it’s more eye candy than liquid candy. While we know this is the most expensive bottle of whiskey every sold, we also know there are other whiskeys that are worth more for the actual liquid inside the bottle.
1. Billionaire Vodka 2015 Edition
Price: $7.25 Million
The most expensive bottle of liquor in the world is more about the bottle than the actual liquor. Leon Verres' Billionaire Vodka 2015 Edition is encased in a black faux-fur-clothed bottle that totally hides the contents and is further embellished with nearly 2,000 diamonds in gold settings. The 2015 edition, a sellout, built on a tradition of expensive bottles begun by Leon Verres’ Billionaire Vodka in 2012. The vodka it holds was also filtered through real diamonds. This particular offering was an 18-liter bottle, but a smaller, less expensive 0.7-liter bottle Diamond Edition was also available for a much lower price. It had six diamonds and a golden dog tag. In addition, a connoisseur may purchase the same vodka in a simple bottle for a much more reasonable price! The 2015 Edition of Billionaire Vodka topped Ventured's Most Expensive Vodkas list.
