The Most Expensive Steve Nash Basketball Cards in the World

Steve Nash has gotten a bad rap recently as the head coach of a reeling Brooklyn Nets team, but that doesn't reflect how dominant a player Nash was during his career. He was a career assist man, but how much money do you need to buy the most expensive Steve Nash Basketball Cards in the world? First, let's take a look at his career.

Who is Steve Nash?

Steve Nash is a Canadian-born former player who played for 18 seasons in the NBA. He was an eight-time All-Star and a seven-time All-NBA selection. He also won back-to-back MVPs while playing for the Phoenix Suns.

Nash wasn't supposed to make the NBA. Coming from a small school in British Columbia, Canada, Nash earned a scholarship from Santa Clara University. He played four seasons in college, helping the team make three NCAA tournament appearances. He won the West Coast Conference Player of the Year award twice with the team. Nash is one of the most popular Canadian athletes of all-time, joining the likes of Penny Oleksiak, Wayne Gretzky, and Mike Weir.

He was selected 15th overall by the Phoenix Suns in the 1996 draft and was quickly traded to the Dallas Mavericks just two years into his career. He blossomed beside fellow international Dirk Nowitzki and made All-Star and All-NBA selections after his 4th season with the Mavericks.

Nash decided to head back to the Suns in his free agency, where he helped the team become a Western Conference Juggernaught, earning back-to-back MVPs in the process.

He is a pioneer of a fast-paced offensive game, separated by his unique ability to pass and shoot. He's inspired countless NBA players, including a very similar evolution to Nash that we see in NBA star Trae Young.

The Most Expensive Steve Nash Basketball Cards Ever Sold

2009 UD Exquisite Dual Logoman Kobe Bryant & Steve Nash PATCH AUTO 1/1 BGS 8.5

$156,000.00

2009 UD Exquisite Dual Logoman Kobe Bryant & Steve Nash PATCH AUTO 1/1 BGS 8.5

The most expensive Steve Nash basketball card ever sold was a 2009 Upper Deck Exquisite Dual Logoman Kobe Bryant & Steve Nash card with an 8.5 PSA MINT grade.

It's the first time the most expensive card has featured another player, and it's ironic considering the two superstars did team up near the end of Nash's career. Unfortunately, Nash's time with the Lakers was unsuccessful.

While it may be be the most expensive Steve Nash basketball card, this dual card would not even crack the list of most valuable Kobe Bryant cards.

In 2012-13, when Nash joined the team, he was already 38 years old and past his prime as a player. Although Nash was known to blossom into the player he was as he got older, having his best seasons well into his 30s, his back ended up causing significant issues during his Lakers stint.

Let's look at the auction's description from the PWCC Marketplace page.
The 50th draft in NBA history took place on June 26, 1996 at Continental Airlines Arena in New Jersey. At the time it was speculated that it would be a deep class however who knew that it would go on to become arguably the greatest class of all-time? The draft class produced three players who won a combined four NBA MVP awards (Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash and Allen Iverson), and seven others would go on to become All-Stars. Encapsulated here in stunning MINT BGS 9, is an Upper Deck Exquisite Collection Dual Logos Autographs which features both Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash. Although Nash occupies two and Kobe one of the aforementioned MVP awards, it's undebatable that Bryant was the greatest talent to emerge from the class. The amazing collectable featured here obviously represents the lone copy in existence, possessing a beautiful 1 of 1 serial stamp on the reverse. The card front incorporates a pair of bright ‘Logo Man' NBA game-worn jersey patch relics attributed to the acclaimed athletes. Penned at the sides of each patch are deep blue-sharpie autographs, both of which are undeniably pristine; a rare quality for the issue which often finds signatures running off one of the edges. The card itself has been expertly preserved since being discovered, boasting 9 centering, 8.5 corners, 8 edges and 9.5 surfaces. About as good as it gets for the incredibly condition sensitive issue. Without question, this is one of the best hits from the final Upper Deck Exquisite Collection basketball product and is only deserving of the finest portfolio. We love the future on this fine-art equivalent and are proud to offer it to the investment community free of any reserve. Good luck to all the bidders!

1997/98 Skybox Metal Universe Precious Metal Gems Green #101 Steve Nash (#002/100) – PSA EX 5
Steve Nash Basketball Card

The second most expensive Steve Nash basketball card is a 1997-98 Skybox Metal Universe Precious Metal Gems Green that sold for $120,000.

One of the only cards I've seen climb near the top of the list despite being a PSA MINT 5. That's incredibly low in a hobby dominated by 10s, 9s, and rarely some 8s. That being said, this is a wicked card. The Metal Gems are some of the coolest cards to look at and usually come with a high price (look at Michael Jordan's most expensive basketball card).

Even though the ball is covered in green fire, Nash uses his deceptive athleticism and coordination instead of speed to get to the rim and dish out his dimes. Steve wasn't the tallest NBA player ever, so he made up for his height in other ways. This card is 1/100, so surprisingly, a PSA 5 climbed up so high in price. The others must have suffered from extreme wear and tear. Additionally, this is Nash in his second year, making the top two cards non-rookies. Wow!

2005-06 UD Exquisite Collection Patch Parallel Autograph #32-AP Steve Nash Signed Game-Used Patch Card (#1/1) – BGS NM-MT+ 8.5/Beckett 10

$32,400.00

2005-06 UD Exquisite Collection Patch Parallel Autograph #32-AP Steve Nash Signed Game-Used Patch Card (#1/1) – BGS NM-MT+ 8.5/Beckett 10

The golden background outlines Nash during his MVP season, featuring a game-worn patch and an autograph. The 8.5 N-MINT rating is very good, while the 10 autographs cannot be better. The jersey patch could be a bit cooler, but there is some lettering in there, so it isn't all bad. And who am I to complain, someone decided this card was $32,400, which I could never dream of affording anyways!

2005-06 Exquisite Collection Logoman Autographs Dual #KN Jason Kidd/Steve Nash Signed Game-used Patch Card (#1/1) – BGS MINT 9/BGS 10

$31,200.00

The 05-06 NBA season ended with Nash picking up the 2nd of his back-to-back MVP awards. Alongside him at the point guard position was Jason Kidd, another hall-of-famer near the top of the league in talent. Unsurprisingly, the two-point guard prodigies would share space on a card that sold into the $30,000 range.

The next card that would be featured on this list is another duel Nash-Kidd card, so we'll do you the honor of skipping it. The only important thing to note was that it was a PSA MINT 9, beating out this card, but the autographs were not similar. The PSA MINT 9 card sold for $23,100.

1996 Topps Chrome Refractor Steve Nash ROOKIE #182 PSA 10 GEM MINT

$19,200.00

1996 Topps Chrome Refractor Steve Nash ROOKIE #182 PSA 10 GEM MINT

Did you think you'd have to scroll this far down to find the most expensive Steve Nash rookie card ever sold?

Me neither, but here we are. Steve Nash's most expensive rookie card is a 1996 Topps which sold for $19,200 on May 20th, 2022. It looks like Nash is breaking down fellow draft-class alums and MVP Allen Iverson, but the angle is hard to tell. The GEM MINT 10 rating makes this truly the top-of-the-top when it comes to Nash rookie cards.

This card is also unique in another way. I think PWCC's Auction Page tells it best.

One of only six refractors have earned PSA’s illustrious assessment, and this stands as the first of the six to come available since June 2021. The card is completely pack fresh, boasting everything you'd want to see in an elite copy. The color is bright, and the clarity is precise. The chromium refractor borders are flawless, the alignment is stunning, and the corners are uniformly untouched. Steve Nash is a 2x MVP, a 4x 50-40-90 club member, and was one of the greatest passers of all-time. This card is poised for steady growth over the long-term as it features a legendary rookie from the inaugural Topps Chrome production. Don’t miss it.

It was put up for sale years earlier, on September 20th, 2020, where it sold for $17,600. It looks like the owner made a tidy little $2,000 profit over the two years.

1997 Fleer Metal Precious Gems #101 Steve Nash #43/100.

$13,014.00

1997 Fleer Metal Precious Gems #101 Steve Nash.#43/100.**

This Steve Nash list has been one surprise after another. This Red Metal Universe, similar to the Green Metal above, actually fetched a price of $13,000 despite being listed on eBay with no card protection. No grade is available, but it is number 43 out of 100. Tell me, would you ever risk buying an unprotected un-graded card, even if the potential is sky-high?

The Lakers are one of the most popular franchises in all sports, and when word got out that they had signed Steve Nash and Dwight Howard, the city was abuzz. Many felt the superteam was a lock for an NBA Championship, being that the two new stars were playing alongside NBA Champions Pau Gasol and Kobe Bryant. But, as history shows us, players on paper don't win the championships, and the Lakers were abysmal together on the court.

But if there's one positive to take away from that season, Steve Nash got another unique card to sell above the $10,000 mark! Cheers to that!

This autographed 2014-15 Steve Nash basketball card features Nash in the final season of his career, where he could only suit up for 15 games because of an injured back.
