Moneybagg Yo was born on September 22, 1991, in South Memphis, Tennessee, and grew up with his single mother (Whitney White) in the Walker Homes community.

The initial step in Moneybagg Yo's music career was April 16, 2012. It was the release of his first single, From Da Block 2 Da Booth, through Bread Gang Entertainment.

On February 3, 2014, he collaborated with Slpy and released La Familia. The following year, he released two additional mixtapes, Relentless and Federal.
