But he's known by his stage name Macklemore. Ben Haggerty grew up in the suburbs of Seattle in the United States with his mother, Julie Schott, father, Bill Haggerty, and older brother, Tim. He was born on June 19, 1983. He attended high school at Garfield High School and later moved to Nathan Hale High School. At Nathan Hale, Ben came up with the rap name Professor Macklemore and started a hip-hop group named Elevated Elements. The group released an album called Progress in 2000.
